Who would you like to replace Daniel Cormier against Jones at the UFC-197 Main Event?
So now since Daniel Cormier is almost out of the main event of UFC-197 against Jon Jones, the question is, who can replace him?
1. Anthony Johnson
Anthony Johnson was all-set to battle Jones for light heavy weight match in 2015 before the arrest & suspension of Jon Jones. Daniel Cormier then replaced Jones & lasted an initial storm to submit Anthony Johnson & grab the title. Rumble’s came back with 2 straight Knock Out Punches, which made this battle worthy of the UFC 197 main event.
2. Alexander “The Mauler” Gus
Alexander Gustafsson gave Jon Jones possibly his greatest challenge during UFC-165 in 2013, with Jones overriding in the decision win which earned Fight-of-the-Year awards from a number of outlets. Nevertheless, Gus has, in the meantime, lost 3 out of four battles, including to both Johnson as well as Cormier, who Knocked Out him during the 1st round. In Feb, Gus told FOX Sports that he still was looking to get back in order regain his mental advantage. If Gus is hungry enough to save his UFC career, a re-match against Jon Jones can provide him just the right inspiration which he desperately needs. This means, the UFC fans could enjoy another classic battle between these two. Nevertheless, that is a huge if.
3. Ovince Saint Preux
A slight stretch with Number 6 Ranked Light-Heavyweight, who has been involved in a main event of 2 Fight-Nights losing both the times. Ovince Preux does not have a good résumé in order to go head to head with Jon Jones. This may feel similar to a tune up & not a UFC Main Event.
4. Travis Browne
Travis Browne, Ronda Rowdy’s boyfriend is another heavyweight & supposed to battle Cain Ramirez Velasquez at UFC-200, however he is also a former team mate of Jon Jones. So, this may be fight worth watching. Travis certainly has a superior résumé as opposed to Ovince Saint Preux however, like him, he has been in 2 cards losing both the times.
Last but not the least, there is this choice:
To postpone Jon Jones vs Daniel Cormier battle for the UFC 200 event. This can surely make a hell of a Co-Main affair. Despite the fact that, UFC-197 may lose some shine without Jon Jones battling, leaving Henry Cejudo vs Demetrious Johnson as the UFC 197 main event.
